Quick Tips for Family Photography Session Outfits | Family Photographer in Amarillo

Let’s talk about family session wardrobe! This may be shocking but I think the outfits you choose are even more important than the session location . I now send all of my clients my Family Session Style Guide with detailed do’s and don’ts for wardrobe if you want to achieve timeless pictures that will eventually be printed and become family heirlooms.

You have to book with me to get the whole Style Guide but here a few quick tips for the whole family:

Best colors: light neutral colors or pastels like light blue, peach, soft pink, sage green.

Colors to avoid: overly saturated colors like hot pink, orange, or red. These will cast colors onto skin.

Style: This is my opinion and goes with my editing style but I think Moms and little girls should generally wear dresses with soft, flowing fabrics and feminine details like flutter sleeves, eyelet fabric, etc.

Dads and boys should wear nice jeans or dress pants/chinos with a neutral colored nice shirt or sweater.

Caveat: this is all my opinion after many, many photo sessions. I want your pictures to age well. That’s a huge goal of mine.

Hope this helps!
