The Welch Family | Extended Family Photos in Palo Duro Canyon

I love this family! I took their photos last year back in July and I was so happy to get to see them again. They have been through a lot in the past year but they all seem to be doing wonderful. It is a huge joy of mine to be able to capture all of the moments in a family’s life. Jade and her husband Michael have spent the better part of the past few years apart because he is in the Marines but he is about to get out so they wanted some extra photos of just the two of them in his dress blues. It was special and I’m excited for the next chapter in their lives!

Laura, Cody, & Georgia | Engagement and Family Photos in Palo Duro Canyon

I took pictures of Georgia when she turned three a couple of years ago and I was so happy to meet up with Laura and her fiance Cody again for engagement/family pictures in Palo Duro Canyon. I loved watching Cody and Georgia together and all of the inside jokes they have developed. She had on the cutest little yellow dress and he kept calling her his “mustard seed,” which she thought was awfully funny. They are such a sweet family and I’m so happy for this next chapter in their lives.

Romriell Family | Palo Duro Canyon Family Pictures

Wow, FIVE siblings! I’m sure the Romriell’s get that reaction a lot but that’s because it’s so unique to have such a big family. Also, it should be noted that these kids were so well behaved. That’s the best gift a client can give a photographer! They were respectful, smart, and they made my job easy. The Romriell’s were an absolute blast!

Anu + Tarun | Husband and Wife Photos in Palo Duro Canyon

These two have been married for a few years and they wanted a session with just the two of them. I love that :) Even after having a child, their relationship is so important to them and they wanted to celebrate it. I had tons of fun with them in Palo Duro Canyon and I hope I get to see them again one day because it was one of those photo sessions that I felt extremely fulfilled afterward.

Sydney | Palo Duro Canyon Maternity Photos

What a pretty mom-to-be. Sydney had a baby calf themed baby shower a few weeks prior to her photo session so she brought along some of the cute mementos from the day: a cow pacifier, an ear tag with her daughter’s name and due date on it, and the most adorable baby moccasins. She also brought a baby blanket which I had her wrap around her shoulders for some of the photos on the rim of canyon. It’s like she’s infusing her love into the blanket so when her daughter is born she will still feel safe and warm <3

The Otis Family | Spring Pictures in Wolflin

Sometimes it’s worth rescheduling a session not once, but twice, to get the perfect day! And that’s what we did with the Otis family. February was dreary so we pushed the session way back to late March and I think it was worth it. Once we figured out exactly what makes Quint smile (mom tossing her hair around, a lot of encouragement, and tickles) we got some of the cutest giggles. Gosh, this little baby has a smile that can light up a room and this sweet, young family brightened my day.

The Martinez Boys | Family Photos in Palo Duro Canyon

I had never taken photos of just a dad and his sons before this session and once we got into the groove of things, it was so much fun! We didn’t have to worry about hair blowing in the Amarillo wind! ;) Juan’s older boys were visiting over Spring break so they had the perfect opportunity to get their photos taken with all of them together. You can tell the three sons really love each other and have fun when they are together. I asked Juan if he ever wanted a daughter and he told me while he did at one point, he loves having three boys and seeing their relationships.

Shanks Family | Outdoor Newborn Photos at West Texas A&M

What a sweet little family! I love the photos that we took outside of the chapel on WTAMU’s campus but I also love the pictures we took inside the auditorium. We retreated inside after a bit because sweet little Ellis was not having the cold. Taking pictures inside the auditorium made sense for this family because John is the trombone instructor at WT and Melissa plays the piano beautifully. The pictures with the stage lights shining down on them are unusual for my style but I love them because they are unique to this family!

The Harper Family | Natural Newborn Photos at Home

I am so happy that my friend Amber and I now both have daughters. And while my daughter, Neve, is a little too rough and wild to play with Allora right now, I’m sure Allora will soon catch up and the two will be best friends.

My favorite part about photographing newborn photos is capturing the sweet, natural moments between new moms and dads and their little one. I remember that being a wonderfully blurry, exciting, sometimes overwhelming time and I think it’s important to memorialize the sweet kisses, the cuddles, and the subtle smiles because it all goes so fast. I’m interested in real moments when it comes to newborn photos because I think that’s what will help a person remember how things felt even after many years have passed.

The Hinrichs Family | Snowy Family Session in Late December

It may not look like it judging by the Hinrichs’ smiling faces, but it was about 20 degrees outside during their family photo session! Since the extended family members traveled in from both ends of the country, we had no choice but to go on with the show and I’m so glad we did. It’s not often that I get to shoot in snow, but I love it. It makes everything so clean and white. The Hinrichs are a ball and thanks to the hand warmers they gave me during the session, their shoot was a breeze.

The Barris Family | Palo Duro Canyon Family Photos

I’m so glad this last-minute family session came my way! It was another one of those three-person families that I’m loving right now. The day turned out to be quite chilly and little Elle was just not having it but we got some beautiful pictures anyway <3 These guys are fun and I can tell they are loving parenthood and their sweet little girl.
