What a sweet little family! I love the photos that we took outside of the chapel on WTAMU’s campus but I also love the pictures we took inside the auditorium. We retreated inside after a bit because sweet little Ellis was not having the cold. Taking pictures inside the auditorium made sense for this family because John is the trombone instructor at WT and Melissa plays the piano beautifully. The pictures with the stage lights shining down on them are unusual for my style but I love them because they are unique to this family!Read More
I am so happy that my friend Amber and I now both have daughters. And while my daughter, Neve, is a little too rough and wild to play with Allora right now, I’m sure Allora will soon catch up and the two will be best friends.
My favorite part about photographing newborn photos is capturing the sweet, natural moments between new moms and dads and their little one. I remember that being a wonderfully blurry, exciting, sometimes overwhelming time and I think it’s important to memorialize the sweet kisses, the cuddles, and the subtle smiles because it all goes so fast. I’m interested in real moments when it comes to newborn photos because I think that’s what will help a person remember how things felt even after many years have passed.Read More
It may not look like it judging by the Hinrichs’ smiling faces, but it was about 20 degrees outside during their family photo session! Since the extended family members traveled in from both ends of the country, we had no choice but to go on with the show and I’m so glad we did. It’s not often that I get to shoot in snow, but I love it. It makes everything so clean and white. The Hinrichs are a ball and thanks to the hand warmers they gave me during the session, their shoot was a breeze.Read More
I’m so glad this last-minute family session came my way! It was another one of those three-person families that I’m loving right now. The day turned out to be quite chilly and little Elle was just not having it but we got some beautiful pictures anyway <3 These guys are fun and I can tell they are loving parenthood and their sweet little girl.Read More
These cuties are expecting their first baby (a boy whose name is a surprise!) in January. I joined them in the Wolflin Neighborhood in Amarillo for a quick session on a late fall day. I met Britten a couple of times through our mutual friend Amber (who is also having a baby in January) but I loved getting to know them a little bit more!Read More
Oh how I love this family and these bright, vibrant girls! The best thing about this business is seeing families over and over again and watching them grow up. These two girls are so much fun to be around because when I start taking their pictures inevitably they will do something hilarious, cute, and unexpected. Their smiles are infectious and I never get tired of photographing this family!Read More
I’m sure I’ve told this story before but I’m going to tell it again. About 4 years ago I was sitting in Roaster’s Coffee Shop where I used to spend a lot of time. A group of women were sitting around a table passing around books and one of them came up to me and asked for the chair across from me. I said yes and then asked what they were doing. She told me they were looking at their wedding albums and then I mentioned that I was a wedding photographer. She then told me that her granddaughter was a wedding planner and gave me her email address so we could meet.Read More
Micah and Keeston are definitely the type of clients that I could be friends with <3 They are relatively new to Amarillo, Texas but they have made it their home along with their two pups, who they brought along to the canyon. I LOVE it when people bring their dogs to photo sessions, by the way, because it relieves camera jitters and adds some freshness! Dogs do what they want to do and they often make their owners laugh which = photography gold.Read More
The whole time I was shooting this sweet family session I had to keep telling myself, “Kayla, you literally just had a baby. You can’t have baby fever!”
But really, it did remind me of the few short months ago when Neve was only 2 months old and she could fall asleep anywhere (not the case anymore). Baby Samuel fell asleep during their family photos when his dad was holding him and it was the sweetest thing ever. Also, I’m dying over his adorable little chunky sweater.
*Currently reminding myself that I can’t have another baby!* Not yet anyway…Read More
Anytime a client tells me that they are a photographer too, I get instantly nervous. It makes me nervous because if I were getting my pictures taken, I would be SO picky. I pity the photographer who has to take my photos. But Kendra put me at ease and her boys were such a breeze to photograph. And I just can’t get enough of the fall colors. Take note people - if you want fall colors in Amarillo, the second half of October and the first part of November is the time to take pictures!Read More
This was my second time taking pictures of the Wing’s (the first time was 3 years ago I think!). Their kids are practically all grown up now…just kidding…but this time around did feel much easier than the first time because I didn’t have to say anyone’s name to get them to look at the camera. My favorite picture from the entire session happened when I needed the kids to loosen up and laugh a little. Their dad Dustin was standing behind me so I told him to do something funny and lo and behold - he did the floss dance for about a millisecond. It was enough for the kids to explode in laughter - I’ll see if you can guess which photo that was.Read More
This fall has been adorable family after adorable family! The Estel’s (who dressed impeccably by the way) have two fun kiddos that made their session memorable. We had the most perfect fall evening to take photos in the Wolflin neighborhood of Amarillo. I love that we were able to get so many photos of their kids just being kids <3Read More
