Rachel + Matt | Late December Wedding in Palo Duro Canyon

"We were together...I forget the rest" - Walt Whitman

Literary quotes decorated Rachel and Matt's wedding - making their day a true reflection of their personalities. Even before Matt came along, Rachel always wanted a winter wedding and I hope the late December day in Palo Duro Canyon was everything she imagined it would be. Despite the 20 degree weather- and from a photographer’s perspective - I’m so glad they still decided to get married outside. In the frigid temperatures they said their vows as Rachel’s dad officiated and they planted a new pine tree together. It was a representation of their young marriage and the years of cultivation and care ahead of them.

Brenna + Landon | Autumn Santa Fe Wedding at The Club at Las Campanas

Brenna and Landon got married on the most perfect, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky, 65 degree day surrounded on all sides by New Mexican mountains. Brenna is from Tucson and Landon is from Texas so for them, Santa Fe was a place for them to meet in the middle. It was the place where they fell in love and the place where Landon would eventually propose to Brenna. About a year later, they became husband and wife in the one of the most beautiful places that I’ve seen.

Sheridan | Westminster Presbyterian Church Bridal Session

Sheridan is really a kindred spirit to me. I've never had a bride so organized and efficient and I absolutely love it! She's one of those brides that I jive so well with. But while we get stuff done, we also have ton of fun during her sessions. I shot her engagement session with now-husband Jerry back in April and then I shot her bridals a couple of weeks ago. Her hilarious, wonderful mother was there during bridals, of course, and she made the experience even better.

Kayce + Conner | Palo Duro Canyon Wedding

Kayce and Conner's wedding was filled with wildflowers, smiles, and amazing people. I talked about this a little bit in her bridal shoot blog but I have to reiterate: Kayce and Conner are the best of people and they clearly surround themselves with people just like them. From a photographer's standpoint, the couple's relaxed attitudes made their wedding day so special and meaningful. I could sense their trust and that allowed me to do my best work.

Crysta | Amarillo Bridal Portraits

Crysta is one of the sweetest brides that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She is soft spoken and lovely. Her lace wedding dress was classically elegant and perfect for her. We started her bridal portraits at the Amarillo Country Club, then we went to the Wolflin neighborhood. Finally, we found a gorgeous grassy country road to catch the last few rays of sunlight in the golden hour.

Lauren | Autumn Bridal Photography Session

I just love the way that Lauren's bright red hair pops against the deep autumn colors of the Wolflin neighborhood in Amarillo, Texas. She is a vibrant and beautiful bride! As I've said, the hardest thing about bridal sessions is holding off on posting images until after the wedding and with Lauren, I had to wait over a month! It was hard but now that she's married and her husband has seen her in her gorgeous wedding dress, I can show her bridal shoot off to the world.

Kayla's Favorite Wedding Vendors | Montanamade Hair & Makeup

After having several shared brides throughout the past year, I finally had the pleasure of meeting the woman behind Montanamade Hair & Makeup a couple of weeks ago at a wedding. Meeting SuZanne in person and seeing her in the process of working solidified my belief that she is one of Amarillo’s best makeup artists.

Holly | Golden Hour Bridal Photo Session | Amarillo Wedding Photographer

Holly literally looked like a princess during her bridal photo session. I was so excited when she chose her location because I knew she would look gorgeous as the ethereal willow tree surrounded her. There's something really magical about the sunlight shining through the leaves.

Aubree | Wolflin Neighborhood | Amarillo Bridal Photography

The Wolflin neighborhood of Amarillo is one of the most elegant places for a bridal photo session and there's nothing quite like having a client that fully trusts you - even when I put them in front of seemingly ugly pink stucco walls in their gorgeous wedding dress ;) Aubree's springtime bridal session was filled with roses, greenery, and her to-die-for mermaid gown. Seriously - get your fill of it below! She shines with classic elegance and she made the most beautiful bride during her wedding this weekend.

Stephanie | Palo Duro Canyon Bridal Photo Session

I photographed the wedding of Stephanie to her husband Tyler almost a year ago. We were supposed to do her bridals last fall but she got too busy finishing up school (she just graduated!). She is moving to Florida this week so we knew we were down to the wire. Luckily, I had a night open last week so we took a trip down to Palo Duro Canyon, wedding dress in tow, and finally shot her long overdue bridal session. I'm so glad that I got to spend a little bit of time with Stephanie before she left. She is so wonderfully sassy and perfectly nerdy (in the best way!) She also has a knack for identifying the species of every bird. I'm going to miss her!

Paige + Dan | Rustic Amarillo, TX Wedding | Kayla Smith Photography

Rustic details, dinosaur cake toppers, pearls, and a lightsaber send-off. Paige + Dan's wedding at Barn in the Meadow was truly a picture of two souls coming together. You might think that those those things don’t fit together very well but when you see Paige and Dan with each other it all makes sense. They are perfect together.
