Kayla's Favorite Wedding Vendors | Montanamade Hair & Makeup
One of the things that makes my job as a wedding photographer more joyful, productive, and fun is being able to work with top notch vendors in the wedding industry. In this blog series, I put some of my favorite fellow vendors in the spotlight. These are people and venues that I love to work with. I promise that each of them does exceptional work and they care about their clients as much as I do.
After having several shared brides throughout the past year, I finally had the pleasure of meeting the woman behind Montanamade Hair & Makeup a couple of weeks ago at a wedding. Meeting SuZanne in person and seeing her in the process of working solidified my belief that she is one of Amarillo’s best makeup artists.
She has a talent for creating makeup looks that are absolutely perfect for photographing. There is something luminous and fresh about the way she does makeup. I love that she gives brides a classic, timeless look that will still be beautiful in their wedding pictures years from now. I firmly believe that brides should invest in a professional makeup artist for their wedding day. Though I don’t know that much about makeup, I still find it easy to spot amateur mistakes and that’s not something you want for your wedding day.
There are a lot of parallels between makeup artistry and photography. Anyone can pick up a makeup brush just like anyone can pick up a camera but it takes experience and knowledge to know how to use them both correctly and creatively. Another thing - your makeup artist will probably be coming into your home or personal space on your wedding day and you will be spending a lot of time with them (just like your photographer) so you’ll want someone that is professional and warm. Suzanne is just that. Though we didn’t spend much time together, I could tell that she made her clients feel comfortable, taken care of, and pampered.
I hope that I have the opportunity to work with Montanamade more because I know that the brides I am photographing will look gorgeous and they will have a makeup look that fits with my own style as a photographer: authentic and classic with a little drama.
